Becoming Lean is a team initiative. The success or failure of Lean will depend on how well everyone integrates into the organization as one team with common objectives.
Lean tools only work when teams using the tools are working as high-performance teams. For example, the Shingo prize for a lean organization is the equivalent to the Baldrige Award. The Shingo assessment uses a 1,000 point scale. Of the 1,000 points, 175 points or 17.5% are allocated to Cultural Enablers defined as Leadership & Ethics and People Development. While 17.5% may seem a small percentage, the impact of the people side of the equation is much larger when you consider people working effectively with people achieve the remaining points. The principles, systems and tools do not create the results, people working effectively as a team creates the results. In order to win the Shingo Prize you have to develop an empower workforce and teach them the skills required by the Shingo Prize. Installing ERM is the Path to an empowered workforce and the Shingo Prize.
In this course, you will learn how to change your company into a high-performance, lean organization by developing and deploying the lean principles within the context of relationship and trust.
